Pros: Trial copy showed that the crashed disk can be recovered. The search showed most, if not all, of the directories and files on the crashed disk. Technical support response time via e-mail was very good. NOTE: I was told that it normally takes a long time to perform a recovery, so expect to spend hours. Cons: The trial did NOT recover anything in Read Only. You have to purchase the software to recover anything. Since the trial showed promise, I purchased the software for $44 (after conversion to Indian prupees). 3 major problems in the recovery: 1. Does not support network drive (as destination) or hard drives in external USB enclosure. You must have everything directly connected to the motherboard, whether it is ATA, SATA, or SCSI. 2. ABORT-SKIP dialog menu box does not work during recovery when it could not recover a file. All you can do is click on the upper right X, which closes the entire application into a Microsoft error box (aka application crash mode). I was able to repeat this, and it occurs at different point in the recovery (save) process. 3. Technical support - even though their response time is very good, I believe language barriers and lack of sympathy to my issue are major negatives. The "vendor" does not believe the #2 problem as noted above is a real problem. I am having to dispute my credit card charges because the software does not work as advertised. I am still working with technical support, e-mailing my PC setup and the screenshot of the error, to validate my errors. I even built a new PC with fresh Windows XP installation, simply to do the recovery. I believe for small, focused recoveries, this software has potential. But to recover a 40GB drive, I believe it is nearly impossible. NOTE: I did a Ghost copy of the crashed hard drive, and I used this copy to recover from. So it is not a hardware issue on the drive.
