JumpBox for Twiki description
JumpBox for Twiki is a JumpBox for the Twiki Wiki System.

What is a JumpBox

JumpBoxes are virtual computers that make installing and managing server based software dramatically easier. All that's required is one of our supported virtualization platforms and you can have a server based application running in minutes on Mac OS X, Windows or Linux. This provides considerable time savings over manual installation while also being very easy.

The applications we distribute are created by a broad array of developers and solve many different problems. JumpBox doesn't develop the applications, we simply package them in a clean, simple and easy to use format. This JumpBox bundles the Open Source application Twiki.

Our goal is to make server based software as easy to install and use as desktop software and in the process expose this great software to many more people. With a JumpBox, what previously took a skilled technician hours or days to install and configure now requires considerably less technical skill and takes just minutes.

JumpBoxes are great for trying new applications, development, experimentation and for production usage in many situations. Plus the JumpBox advantage doesn't end with installation. We also provide useful features like integrated backup/restore that makes protecting your data easy. Support for the JumpBox runtime is also available with the purchase of a JumpBox Assurance plan.

About Twiki

TWiki is a flexible, powerful, and easy to use enterprise wiki, enterprise collaboration platform and knowledge management system. It is a Structured Wiki, typically used to run a project development space, a document management system, a knowledge base, or any other groupware tool, on an intranet or on the internet. Web content can be created collaboratively by using just a browser. Users without programming skills can create web applications. Developers can extend the functionality of TWiki with Plugins.

A wiki is a Web 2.0 platform to create, share and remix content. TWiki as a structured wiki goes a step further; it enables users to automate their workflow by creating custom tailored wiki applications.

Companies are deploying TWiki in different ways, and TWiki is quite flexible to adapt to different needs. Here is a non- comprehensive list of how TWiki is being used:

· To replace a static intranet. Content is maintained by the employees, thus eliminating the "one webmaster syndrome" of outdated and insufficient intranet content.
· As a knowledge base and FAQ system. The TWikiSuccessStoryOfTakeFive tells you more about that.
· To design and document software projects.
· To track issues (i.e. bugs) and features. TWiki itself is managed this way; more on that in the Codev web.
· As a document management tool.
· To collaborate on common goals, such as the Javapedia online encyclopedia for Java developers on java.net, or the Biowiki for computational biology projects of UC Berkeley.
· As a software archive, i.e. the TWiki Plugins archive.
· As a company internal message board, i.e. for job listings.

This JumpBox includes TWiki version 4.1.2.

JumpBox didn't develop Twiki, we just make it easier to use by packaging it with the JumpBox Runtime.. Making Open Source Convenient | JumpBox Virtual Appliances and Applications for Cloud Computing.
