Total Recorder Developer Edition is an edition of Total Recorder that allows you to integrate the capabilities of Total Recorder (sound recording, editing, processing, and playing) with other applications. With the Video Add-on, you can record from any combination of video and audio sources, including output of another audio application in Software mode.
Total Recorder Developer Edition provides COM interfaces so that all of its functions can be invoked programmatically from within another program (e.g. C/C++, VB, or Java programs) or from within a script (e.g. VB Script, JavaScript, or Perl) rather than interactively. The program package contains additional documentation and sample code (C++, Visual Basic and JavaScript) for writing applications that can control Total Recorder through COM facilities.
You can also enhance Total Recorder functionality with some additional add-ons that can be used to improve the quality of your cassette or vinyl records and voice dictating tremendously, accomplish automatic gain control, apply an equalizer, send your recordings to iTunes/iPod and others.
A very brief list of new features in Version 7.0 Developer Edition includes:
- Playback and background recording (capturing) of Internet-broadcasts in MP3, WMA, and Ogg Vorbis formats without playing it by an external player, thus avoiding decoding and re-encoding.
- Timeshifting lets you record an audio file and listen to it (from any position) while the file is being recorded.
- Total Recorder supports for CUE-sheet files that contain information about the tracks in a media file. You can create cue-points and use them for splitting a file afterwards.
- The ability to export/import Total Recorder's configuration settings or scheduled jobs. This is useful if you need to reinstall your system, move Total Recorder from one computer to another, or for backup purposes.
- Other minor enhancements.
